- He began his recording career with the group Northern Spirit way back in 1993. A couple radio stations played some songs. A magazine ran a feature on them, and then nothing else seemed to happen.
- After that, John set about learning an array of other instruments and proceeded to become a one man band.
- John gave up on seeking fame and fortune from a career in the music industry and has been self releasing one CD a year for free to everyone on his mailing list.
- John counts Elvis Costello, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Winwood, Crowded House, Squeeze, among his many inlfuences. However, he doesn't sound like any of those artists.
- As to a gig at Massey Hall. Well, he is still waiting for an invitiation.
