The Scarlett Fever is a four-piece Canadian Rock band hailing from Ottawa, Ontario. They came together in November 2006, after having to cancel their first scheduled meeting due to an emergency-room trip that resulted in singer Tap Nanoon being diagnosed with scarlet fever. Once his contagious phase was finished, Tap, along with bassist “Reverend” Kevin Larmer, guitarist Luke “Iceman” Pearson, and drummer Andrew “General” Burns set in motion a Rock and Roll movement that is sweeping the Ottawa Valley.
In November 2007, the Scarlett Fever released an eight-song EP, titled “The Best of 10 Months of Classics”. The EP finds The Scarlett Fever offering a sound influenced by the power-pop of Cheap Trick, the energy of Guns N Roses, and the storytelling style of Bruce Springsteen, with a modern flair of a generation who cut their musical teeth in the nineties. With big vocal harmonies, wailing guitars, and a quirky B-movie sense of humour, the band has comprised a collection of rock anthems about drinking too much, alien abduction, lesbian girlfriends, and xenophobia. The Scarlett Fever promises a Rock’N Roll experience that will compel you to donate everything you own to charity and finally get that tattoo you keep talking about. Since its release, "The Best of Ten Months of Classics" has received air-play on LiVE 88.5 (88.5 FM), and CKCU (93.1 FM) in Ottawa.
With the coming of a new summer, The Scarlett Fever are busy reinventing themselves and taking the next big step in their development. With the parting of the Reverend and the Iceman; Twelve 34's Dave Doran and session drummer Wes Reed have joined forces with Tap and Burns to bring in a new era of Rock. With the release of their new self-tittled EP expected in late August, be on the look out for a new, faster, stronger, better dressed Scarlett Fever coming to a city near you.
